Welcome to the Expat Partner Programme at Aarhus University. You may have left behind a promising career and a great network to pursue a new life and career in Denmark.
This can be challenging, and we are here to help you overcome the cultural barriers, job challenges, and other practical matters related to your relocation to Denmark.
The Expat Partner Programme provides customised career counselling to expat partners. You will be coached during the transition phase and can participate in network events to support your new life in Denmark.
The programme is offered to the spouses and partners of international researchers relocating to Denmark for a position at AU from postdoc level.
Moving to a new country is exciting and overwhelming, and involves many challenges. For many internationals the most important thing is to get a job and integrate through that. For others, the expatriation is a personal journey with opportunities of personal development and new professional insight, entering new social and professional networks, and better understand and navigate in the Danish culture and work-life balance.
We can help you to relaunch your career in Denmark and reframe yourself by finding new potential and competences.
Our career counselling services include individual career counselling, identifying competences and opening up for new perspectives, carrying out a personality type test (JTI), LinkedIn, networking, feedback on your CV and cover letter, and job interview coaching.
Moving to a new country and culture and leaving your job, friends and familiar environment behind involves a major transition. This can be overwhelming until you find your feet and discover the best way to meet your own needs. We look at your passions, values and core beliefs, and help you determine what’s important for the next chapter of your life.
We organise a variety of workshops; and when our partners hold events and workshops that are relevant, we suggest that you participate as this will give you valuable insight from different perspectives. Such workshops can also be a great place to network with others in the same situation. You will gain a great deal of information about job seeking, networking and events.
We hope you will join some of our many network sessions involving partners, companies and events. As a job seeker these sessions will give you the chance to meet with companies, HR professionals and other internationals in the same situation.
Our network of partners will also be available to you, with the focus on networking, seminars, events, contacts and knowledge sharing.
On a personal level you can participate in our social networks and gatherings, and we will provide you with information about international networks you can benefit from.
Business Region Aarhus and Aarhus University has joined forces and signed a partnership agreement. In this partnership, Business Region Aarhus supports expat partners/spouses of researchers at Aarhus University to find ordinary jobs, wage subsidy jobs and internships. The jobs are within public administration and private companies and organisations. Apart from gaining a foothold in the Danish labour market, the aim of the partnership is for the spouse/partner to develop a network and gain experience and knowledge of Danish workplace culture.
The International Dual Career Network (IDCN) will be launched in Jutland/Funen in January 2017. The IDCN is a collaboration of companies, NGOs and academic institutions with the purpose of facilitating job searches for the spouses and partners of mobile employees, as well as providing member companies with access to a turnkey pool of talent.
The IDCN gives you the chance to take part in the daily organisation and running of your network.
