Relocation Service

The Relocation Service offers personalised assistance to international researchers relocating to Denmark for a position at AU as assistant professor or above.


Who is the Relocation Service for?

You can request Relocation Service for new staff or guests that fulfil the following qualification:

  • Foreigner or Danish citizen moving to Denmark from abroad
  • Contracted to work for 3 months or longer at Aarhus University
  • Has a position at postdoc level or above

What does the Relocation Service include?

For assistant professors and above

The relocation service provides information about and assistance with all non-academic and non-contractual issues related to relocating to Denmark.

Relocation Service includes information and assistance in all five stages of the relocation process. The assistance will be adjusted to the personal needs of the employees (and accompanying family if applicable).

Please notice that some parts of the Relocation Service is not provided for relocations to locations outside the greater Aarhus area. See the Relocation Service Packages for further information.

For postdocs

Relocation service offers individual assistance to postdocs and families relocating to Denmark. 

We provide information and assistance with all non- academic and non-contractual issues related to relocating to and living in Denmark.

We offer our help with relocation, including:

  • Pre-recruitment meeting
  • Registration
  • Family
  • School and day care
  • Job search for accompanying spouses
  • Housing (Advise and suggestions)

Expat Partner Programme

The Expat Partner Programme provides customized career counselling to expat partners. Expat partners will be coached during the transition phase and participate in network events to support their new life in Denmark.

Relocation Service Packages

The Relocation Service will be accustomed to the individual needs of the new employees and accompanying family based on three packages:

Relocations within the greater Aarhus area

  • Information about living and working in Denmark
  • Information regarding essential practical matters in Denmark e.g. Insurance, health plans, tax
  • Help with house search
  • Help for accompanying family
  • Help in case of departure

Relocations to outside the greater Aarhus area

  • Information about living and working in Denmark
  • Information regarding essential practical matters in Denmark e.g. insurance, health plans, tax
  • Help with house search, can be acquired by the department from external relocation agency or:
  • Help for accompanying family
  • Help in case of departure

Danish citizens relocating to Denmark from abroad

  • Information regarding essential practical matter for expat Danes e.g. insurance and tax
  • Help with house search
  • Help for accompanying family

The Relocation Officers

Ms. Vibeke Tyrre Pedersen

Born and raised in Denmark. Master's Degree in Economics from Aarhus University and a background of 12 years as an expat in Asia and the USA.

Ms. Vibeke Moll Sorensen

Born and raised in Aarhus. Master's Degree in Geophysics and a background of 7 years as an expat in the Middle East.

Mr. Vibhuti Bhushan

Born and raised in India. Bachelor in Science from Punjab University Chandigarh. Background as self-employed for over 22 years in Denmark and then as mobility assistant at Grundfos Denmark for 1 year. 

Ms. Susanne Sølling Rimmen

Born and raised in Aarhus. Master's Degree in International Business and a background of 13 years as an expat in 5 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Susanne is on leave one year from July 2016.
