Aarhus University hereby has the pleasure of inviting you to participate in our Getting Started in Denmark orientation and registration event for newly arrived PhD students and researchers. The event provides you with important on-arrival information and helps you to get registered with the public authorities for your EU residence certificate, CPR number and tax card at the International Citizen Service (ICS) in Aarhus.

The event is held twice a month (as a minimum). If you are unable to participate this time we advise you to join another of our events. You can find more dates in the invitation and the links to registration can be found here 

Who can participate?

The event is for international PhD students, postdoctoral scholars, associate professors and other newly arrived staff. Guest researchers and guest PhD-students residing in Denmark for more than 3 months are also welcome. Your partner/ spouse and children are also very welcome to attend but may not get registered at the event. Each participant must sign up individually.


The event takes place at the International Citizen Service (Arosgården, Åboulevarden 31, 1. tv, 8000 Aarhus C). 


  • 07:45 Welcome and submission of requested documents to the public authorities
  • 08:00 Orientation sessions by:
    • Work in Denmark
    • AU International Academic Staff Services (IAS)
  • 09:00-? Registration at the public authorities* 
    Individual questions

    * The registration part will usually take 1-4 hours depending on the waiting time at the ICS.

You must register before 12 midnight on the Wednesday before the event, and spots are limited, so please register as soon as possible.

Getting Started in Denmark is organised by the International Academic Staff Services (IAS) at AU International Centre in close cooperation with Work in Denmark. The IAS is the central unit for international academic staff at Aarhus University.
