APRIL 2016

Yesterday International Community held a seminar about the Danish Healthcare System at Dokk1. It is important to go over the details and familiarise oneself with the services offered in Denmark - before you have an urgent need for them. The presentations at the meeting included information about both general practice and emergencies.

 

 

Hotel Scandic in Aarhus APRIL 2016

The UIC visited the 'greenest hotel in Aarhus', the Scandic Hotel. The General Manager, Nina Carlslund, informed us about their sustainability initiatives and the various strategies the hotel uses to save energy. You can also view the menu for their restaurant, The Grill and other facts about the hotel.

Centrality of Positive and Negative Life Events MARCH 2016

Alejandra Zaragoza Scherman, postdoc at the Au Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, presented a talk on her research into which life events are most clearly remembered for the effect they have on our identity and life story.

Understanding Your Payslip OCTOBER 2015

Personnel legal consultant, Jens Kristian Birthin, along with head of payroll, Tim Strandgaard Laursen, and payroll staff member, Anita Kaae Rasmussen, presented explained the ins and outs of the AU payslip, and were able to answer a number of individual questions from the attendees. Work & Residence Permits and Visas OCTOBER 2015

This week, we had the pleasure of inviting Malene Møller Hermansen and Stine Bertelsen from the Danish Immigration Service to the UIC to give a presentation on the ins and outs of getting permanent residency in Denmark.

We were also delighted to have Christian Heltoft and Züleyha Özden from the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration in Aarhus to give a presentation on the regulations for various types of residence permits for researchers and a presentationon the differences between the establishment card and green card.

Digitisation in Aarhus SEPTEMBER 2015

Registered nurse and health practitioner Tove Ebbesen prepared an informative presentation on what kind of services you can expect to receive from the Danish health services, and in particular, from health visitors in relation to having and bringing up children.

  • You can download his new book about Denmark for free (in Danish). Here he discusses and problematizes how the things that Danes perceive as particularly Danish, are created by painters, composers and poets during the Romanticism period. Danes were taught to perceive the nature, food and the “Danish character” in a certain – Danish – way. According to Hans Hauge, the Romantic Denmark is a linguistically produced phenomenon.
